Daddy ~ Abba, Father

We have been studying the names of God for quite some time now. Many wonderful attributes of God. So many chapters in my life. And an attribute for each chapter. Growing up, learning that he is Elohim; my Creator, El Elyon, my Sovereign, and Adonai; my Lord. For those times as Terry and I struggled financially raising seven children on a single income in order to home school, we depended on Yahweh Jireh; He is your Provider and I particularly depended on Yahweh Shaddai ~ He is Enough for you. It was nice to know that He was there and He was all I needed. For that time when we were going through the cancer with Molly, we clung to the names Yahweh Rophe ~ He is Your Healer and Yahweh Nissi ~ He is your Victory. He did both for us, healed Molly from stage 4 rectal cancer, and proved to be the Victory over that horrible enemy. I know many people with an awesome faith in God do not get to see an earthly healing of their earthly bodies, but those folks will see an even better healing as their bodies will or have been already made perfect as they live eternally with God. I love the name Yahweh Mekaddesh; He Makes you Holy. I continue to hope for that time when I can be considered a Holy person. Meanwhile I lean on Him to become more like Him, and love that it is my desire to be like Him; to be Holy. I love the peaceful existence I have here on our little hobby farm, and love His name Yahweh Shalom ~ He is your Peace, I love that feeling of not having turmoil in my inner being. I love Peace! I particularly, because of my background raising cattle, and now with my sheep, love Yahweh Ro'i;  The Lord is my Shepherd. But a New Testament name for God first heard as Yeshua (Jesus) prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane ,is even more special.

I was blessed as a child. One of my favorite memories as a small child is of my walking hand in hand with my Daddy at the county fair. Thinking how proud I was of my Daddy, and feeling so very special because this man was holding my hand, and taking special care of me, I was so proud to be his daughter. I felt safe and secure with him. I wanted to do what ever I could to make him proud of me.

We read in Mark 14:36 in the New American Standard Bible (NASB)

“And He was saying, “Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will.”

This name of God means simply “Daddy, the close and special relationship  a small child has to his father, just like the one I had with my dad walking at the county fair, being recognized as belonging to him. Daddy is one of the first words a child learns. And we have been given the privilege through Yeshua to call God by this most special name Daddy, Abba Father. WOW! It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about how our Elohim (Creator) desires for us to be in such an intimate relationship with Him! Abba Father how special is that?

Reflect on this today. Maybe you did not have that special relationship with an earthly dad so that you can relate as I can, but the really cool thing is that then you still have that privilege of knowing our Heavenly Father, Abba, Father in that most intimate way. Cling to Him. Accept Him as your Abba, Father. Your Daddy. He is waiting for you! He loves you like no one else ever can or will.

TRUSTING IN ABBA, FATHER ~ HE IS YOUR FATHER

Romans 8:15
New International Version (NIV)
The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
Copied from pages 227- 228 in our study book, TRUSTING IN THE NAMES OF GOD by Catherine, Martin:

"Knowing Abba, Father reveals the privileges of your relationship with God. You are adopted into the family of God because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross for you. Paul tells us that  "The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” (Romans 8:15). The word adoption used by Paul regarding our new relationship with God, signifies "being granted the full rights and privileges of sonship in a family to which one does not belong by nature."  You are now granted the privilege of addressing God as your Father with the same words Jesus used to address His Father. This reveals the most tender, precious part of  your relationship with God, where you are taken near to the heart of your heavenly Father, who loves you. Do you ever doubt your future, become discouraged with earthly relationships, or question your own significance? You can find hope in the promise that you may run to God and address Him as your Abba Father"
"You see, you have not received a spirit that returns you to slavery, so you have nothing to fear. The Spirit you have received adopts you and welcomes you into God’s own family. That’s why we call out to Him, “Abba! Father!” as we would address a loving daddy." Romans 8:15 From The Voice;  (VOICE)

DID YOU KNOW? – "ABBA FATHER" In Romans 8:15 Paul tells us that we have "received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out Abba, Father." What does he mean by "Abba, Father"? Abba is an Aramaic word which means "daddy" or "papa". What Paul is saying is when you accept Jesus as your Savior you are adopted into God’s family. You become His child and He becomes your heavenly Father. The relationship is so deep and so personal that you can call him "daddy". From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ab_(Semitic)

Trusting in Abba Father: He is your Father.

Abba Father ~ He is your Father.

Our first lesson on our new Name of God  will be to learn  the KEY VERSE for this name.
The verse is Romans 8:15.
I have written it in many different versions. Study them, and let me know which one you like best. Most of them are very similar.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Romans 8:15
New Life Version (NLV)
You should not act like people who are owned by someone. They are always afraid. Instead, the Holy Spirit makes us His sons, and we can call to Him, “My Father.”

Romans 8:15
Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to bring you back again into fear; on the contrary, you received the Spirit, who makes us sons and by whose power we cry out, “Abba!” (that is, “Dear Father!”).

PRAYER ~ John 10:27-28

PRAYER
This is NOT my writing it came from a nice page on Facebook. It goes nicely to close out our study on
Yahweh Roi' ~He is your Shepherd
 The link is here:
Prayer <------link devotional="" font="" on="" prayer.="" this="" to="">

 (John 10:27-28).
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand"

· As you continue your time with the Lord, offer to Him this psalm of humble praise:

(Psalm 115:1).
Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us,
But to Your name give glory,
Because of Your mercy,
And because of Your truth.
Why should the Gentiles say,
"Where now is their God?"

· Now pray this confession to the Lord to keep your life in fellowship with Him:

 (Psalm 6:1-3).
O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your anger,
Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure.
Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak;
O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
My soul also is greatly troubled;
But You, O Lord-how long?

· As you confess any sins that the Holy Spirit brings to your mind, voice your affirmation of God's Word by reflecting on Jesus' words:
(John 10:27-28).
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand"

  • · As you make your requests known to the Lord, pray for:
  • · others to see Christ in you,
  • · the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into His harvest,
  • · your prayer list.
· Now offer this prayer of worship to the Lord:
(Psalm 73:28).

           "But it is good for me to draw near to God;
I have put my trust in the Lord God,
That I may declare all Your works"

Savior,Like A Shepherd Lead Us

"Savior, like a Shepherd Lead Us"
By Dorothy Ann Thrupp

Savior, like a shepherd lead us
... Much we need Thy tender care
In Thy pleasant pastures feed us
For our use Thy folds prepare
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are
We are Thine, who Thou befriend us
Be the guardian of our way
Keep Thy flock from sin defend us
Seek us when we go astray
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Hear Thy children when we pray
Blessed Jesus, oh blessed Jesus
Hear Thy children when we pray

Early let us seek Thy favor
Early let us do Thy will
Blessed Lord and only Savior
With Thy love our bosoms fill
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Thou hast loved us, love us still
Blessed Jesus, oh blessed Jesus
Thou hast loved us, love us still
Blessed Jesus, oh blessed Jesus
Thou hast loved us, love us still.

Yahweh Jireh He is Your Shepherd

Matthew 18:12-14

Yahweh Ro'i. He is your shepherd!
  Matthew 18:12-14

“What do you think? If any man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go and search for the one that is straying? If it turns out that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray. So it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish."

He loves you. Have you strayed from the flock?
It is Him, Yahweh Ro'i calling you back.
Come back into the fold this day!

YAHWEH RO'I

John 10:14
I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me
.

John 10:14

"I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, "

I love how my sheep come running to greet me whenever I go out in their pasture! They know me, and love coming up to me for attention. They know me and respond differently to me than anyone else. We have a special bond. And I know each of them and their little personalities as well.
That is why Our Lord uses that sheep analogy when He talks about His true followers. Are you one of His own? Do you have that special connection? I sure hope you do!There is nothing better! To know He will take care of your every need and throw in a couple extra "wants" as well; sorts like that coffee can of lamb pellets those sheep really do not need, but they sure enjoy
!

Make sure to take time today to further develop that bond with your Savior, Yahweh RO'i.
He is your Shepherd!

YAHWEH RO'I ~ HE IS YOUR SHEPHERD

My sheep (Some pictured above) love me. They trust me and come on the run whenever I call. They know I will feed them, provide fresh water for them and help them whenever they have a need. I am their primary care giver, their cheif shepherd. Now that we are on the road so much, grandson Isaac has been given the job of primary caregiver. They have learned to trust him, but they know and love me as their cheif shepherd.
It sorta reminds me of the text in the Bible where Jesus asks, "Do you love me?" And the response is, "You know I do,Lord" And Jesus simply says, "Feed my sheep." Isaac has to make sure their every need is taken care of. Today lets discover YAHWEH RO'I our CHEIF SHEPHERD.

Yahweh Ro'i. He is my Shepherd.
Catherine Martin in our study book said

"Yahweh Ro'i is perhaps the most personal and precious name of God ever revealed to His people." She continues in this lesson, DRAW NEAR TO YAHWEH RO'I to say, "How fitting that David, the man after God's own heart, would be given the privilege to present The Lord as our Shepherd. For who could define the beauty or tenderness of the Shepherd better than David, a man who knew the relationship of a shepherd to his sheep, having watched over his own flocks, both in the fields and as king of the people of Israel. "
There is so much in this lesson today! I just want you to soak it all in. Read Psalm 23 in its entirety. A beautiful poem. One of the most beloved ever. And so rich with the attributes of our loving Creator.
Catherine continues on to say, "David reveals to us the benefits of having The Lord as our Shepherd."
She continues, "He meets all our needs. . .
In psalm 23, David really tells us so much about God. Verse 1, Yahweh Ro'i is our Shepherd; Yahweh Jireh supplies our needs so we will not be in want.
In verse 2, Yahweh Shalom gives us peace in the green pasties and beside the still waters. In verse 3, Yahweh Rophe is our healer, restoring our soul; Yahweh Tsidkenu is our righteousness. Yahweh Nissi is our victory as He prepares a table for us in the presence  of our enemies (verse5). In verse 5 Yahweh Makaddesh is the one who sanctifies us by anointing our head with oil. Yahweh Shammah is The Lord who is there in verse 4."
Here are additional verses telling about more of the attributes of our loving Creator.

Philippians 4:19
Jeremiah 6:16
Matthew 11:29
Isaiah 48:17
Acts 3:19
Romans 5:17
Philippians 3:9
2 Corinthians 1:5
Hebrews 13:5
Isaiah 41:10
Psalm 34:4
Ephesians 6:11
John 10:10
And John 3:16.
Enjoy these verses and what they reveal to you about the names of God!

"Trusting in Yahweh Ro'i gives you assurance that God is always watching over you. Whether you are leading others in ministry, caring for your family,or handling a difficult job, there is One greater than yourself who is taking care of you. His name is Yahweh Ro'i, your Shepherd.
David, the shepherd of God's people, knew that he also had a Shepherd. He said,'The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want' (Psalm 23:1) .
