I have been sending my family members devotionals.
The theme is the Anderson symbol, the Mighty Oak Tree, and the Clan motto, Stand Sure. My sister suggested I share this morning's on the internet, so I will in the comments below:
When I was in my second year of 4-H, the Herrera family wanted to join our Happy Jack 4-H Club. One parent said "absolutely no , this family was not to join our club". My dad said "yes they are joining" and they did. Those who agreed with the other parent, formed the Crow Creek Crew 4-H club. My dad stood firm. I was proud of him. The family only... stayed in the club for one year. But my dad was no respecter of men.
He would go to town, hire a bum to work on the ranch, and that bum would sit at our table and take his meals just as if he were a member of our family. And my father was equally comfortable with Governor Hanson, and even entertained President Bush on our ranch. He was literally all things to all men. Never ashamed to share his faith in Jesus Christ along the way. It seemed to just come naturally to him. His faith was strong, and when he was president of the school board, he stood on these same principles. He was flexible and free like the branches of a Mighty Oak tree, yet he Stood Sure in his faith in Jesus Christ, and was a protector of the underprivileged, and a friend of men from every walk in life. My dad was my hero.
Read the following from
1 Corinthians: 19, 22 -23
"though I am free and belong to no man,I make myself a slave to everyone to win as many as possible ... I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the Gospel, that I might share its blessings."
