Heading down to Houston in the morning to welcome 409 into the world! Prayers for Jordan and Mark appreciated See their blog (Double A Connected), link to the side of this blog.
Subject: Socialism - an experiment
I got this in an email today. Do not know who to give credit to for the writing...

An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said ok, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism.

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A. After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little.. The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F. The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great; but when government takes all the reward away; no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

Ken: Ephesians 4:1-13, It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."
Congregation: Mark has been called to this biblical ministry.
Ken: (to the candidate) Have you considered seriously this biblical ministry to which you are called?

HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLD.

George Phillips, an elderly man, from Meridian, Mississippi, was going
up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the
garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window.
George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that
there were people in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked 'Is someone in your house?' He said
'No,' but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me.

Then the police dispatcher said 'All patrols are busy.. You should lock
your doors and an officer will be along when one is available.'
George said, 'Okay.' He hung up the phone and counted to 30.

Then he phoned the police again. 'Hello, I just called you a few
seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you
don't have to worry about them now because I just shot them.' and he
hung up.

Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Helicopter, two
Fire Trucks, a Paramedic, and an Ambulance showed up at the Phillips'
residence, and caught the burglars red-handed..
One of the Policemen said to George, 'I thought you said that you'd
shot them!'

George said, 'I thought you said there was nobody available!'

(True Story) I LOVE IT! Don't mess with old people

It has been said: 'Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain.. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.'
Advice for the day (as copied from an email from my Aunt Polly)

1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.
5. Delegate tasks to capable others..
6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
9. 10. and 11. missing from the list???? Where did they go?
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough rest
18. Eat right.
19 Get organized so everything has its place.
20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
22. Every day, find time to be alone.
23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.
24. Make friends with Godly people.
25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good 'Thank you Jesus ....'
27. Laugh.
28. Laugh some more!
29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.
30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).
31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).
32. Sit on your ego
33 Talk less; listen more.
34. Slow down.
35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe..
36 Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before. GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU.

TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT------
http://www.heartlight.org/

March 13, 2009

VERSE:
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is
living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give
life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
-- Romans 8:11
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Romans+8:11

THOUGHT:
If we belong to Christ, we know the Spirit of God lives in us
(Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 6:19-20). Because of the Spirit's presence, we
know that we are eternal! The Spirit is God's down payment
guaranteeing that our future is with him (2 Cor. 1:21-22; 5:5).
What's more, even while we're living for Christ now, the Spirit
gives us life in our physical bodies as we use them for God's glory
(cf. Rom. 12:1).

PRAYER:
Father, animate my body with your Spirit so that what I do not
only brings you glory, but it also reflects your character and
grace. To you, O Father, be all the glory for your presence and
power that is at work within me, your child. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Proverbs 17:6
Children's children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.

Oh my how true this verse is! What a huge blessing Terry and I have! We are so blessed!

My little cowgirl is going to be visiting this week! I am very excited that she and her darling little brother and their Mommy get to come for a visit! She told her daddy last week that her kittens were at Lou Lou's house. Then after a few minutes of silence she asked "Are my kittens at Lou Lou's?" I hope she will not be too disappointed because they are quite a bit bigger than they were last time she saw them. Tomorrow we are doing February and March birthdays at Kristi and Joshua's Little Asher has had about the biggest birthday month any little boy could ever wish for! He has been celebrating all month! Micah is probably pretty blue with his family gone. I wish they lived closer so he could come more often! But we will take what blessings we get and be glad. Hope you have a great day!

On April 26, 2009,
Terry Anderson,
Head of the Terry Anderson Clan will be turning 60! We will be having a BIG Christian Celtic celebration to honor him on April 25th all day at the Washington State park. Our sons and grandchildren will be donning their kilts and entering into some fun Scottish games. We are hoping to get a nice family portrait done that day, as just having a great time of fun and fellowship and food with our family and friends. I am starting today to get things organized and planned for the day.
Our son Mark will be getting ordained on March 22 at the Hillsboro Christian church, at 4 in the afternoon. This is going to be another of the wonderful celebrations we are having this year. God is blessing us a lot in these times of struggle in our nation. We just need to look around and find our many blessings.
God is good, all the time.
All the time, God is good
